•  WSOR operates 700 miles of track.
•  WSOR operates in a total of 20 Wisconsin counties and one Illinois county and partners with four rail transit commissions/consortiums to manage the public rail system.

•  WSOR is Wisconsin’s second largest railroad.
•  When it began operations in 1980, WSOR ran on 56 lb. rail on various segments; today’s minimum standard is 112 lb. rail.
•  The rail industry, as a whole, is improving transportation efficiency and capacity for its customers by providing equipment that can haul more volume (increasing 100-ton carrying capacity to 115-ton capacity).
•  WSOR spends millions of dollars each year to rehabilitate existing infrastructure as well as add capacity in order to keep pace with customer and industry demand.
•  Since the start of operations in 1980, twenty-two grain elevators have located new rail load out facilities on the WSOR system for loading of grain.
•  WSOR ships more grain by railcar than all other railroads combined in the State of Wisconsin.
•  It takes 3.6 trucks to transport the same amount of volume as one rail car.
•  WSOR handles over 50,000 carloads annually, which equates to over 180,000+ trucks that are not on Wisconsin’s highways.
•  WSOR saves Wisconsin taxpayers over 12 million dollars in additional highway maintenance annually.
•  WSOR was named Regional Railroad of the Year by Railway Age Magazine in the years 2001 and 2009.
•  WSOR employs 200 full-time and seasonal people (as of January 1, 2010).
